RETROGRADE PLANETS AND THE RISE OF CREATIVITY
September 2020 is pretty interesting! It has been a year of one interesting month after another! Before I get into the Astrology newsletter, I would like to share some news with you. I am teaching an 8-week Astrology Class via Zoom through Derry, NH Center for Adult Studies. It is exciting to be invited to teach in their program once again. I taught there for over 3 years when I lived in New Hampshire. This will be taught over Zoom, so anyone can join by their mobile phone or computer.

So, September is intriguing, because we are now reaching a point in the year where a major phase that has been with us for months is beginning to come to an end. I phrase this as “beginning to come to an end” because it is not quite done. I am referring to the retrograde season that began back in March with Mercury retrograding in Pisces. Then, one at a time we had the beginnings of the planets, turning retrograde. Three outer planets, Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto, each turned retrograde. Then Neptune also turned retrograde in June. Also, we cannot forget Venus and its retrograde! It has been quite a retrograde year. Lots of internal reviews going on!
This month, September, the outer planets begin to end their retrograde phase. By this I mean, both Jupiter (wisdom, expansion, faith, confidence) and Saturn (order, responsibility, restraint, restriction) will turn direct and end their retrograde phase. Meaning the energy influences of these planets will no longer be doing inner reviews. All of these areas take on a forward direction. There may be many things disclosed that had been kept hidden or inside.
I call these planets “power planets” because their influences are powerful and intense and also because they have been teamed up in Capricorn. When you have a group of power planets, such as this and especially in Capricorn, all together, it is like a strong and powerful group of controlling authority figures. These power planets, Jupiter and Saturn and Pluto, have all been retrograde since April and May.
Jupiter in Capricorn will turn direct on September 13th and then, Saturn will turn direct on September 29th. There will be a huge, slow motion releasing of energy that has been building and not going anywhere! It has been tying us to the past and forcing this reactive, reconsideration, and reviewing of history.
On September 9th, Mars begins its retrograde phase. Remember, Mars moved into Aries at the end of June. Mars normally spends about six weeks in a sign. Because of this retrograde phase, Mars will be in Aries until January 6. That is over six months. So, Mars retrograde will make a huge impact. Where ever its transit is occuring in your chart will be super energized!If you look back to some of my past newsletters, the one published on June 22nd, I went into great detail about Mars in Aries, Mars retrograde and the meaning of how it will impact us for August, September, October, November, December and into January of 2021. So, I will not get as detailed in this newsletter. You can click on this link June 22nd to review. However, it is important to understand that as September begins, Mars is already moving quite slowly, and it turns retrograde on September 9th. This can make us feel like “oh no, this is another push backwards” or at least it might feel that way. When planets turn retrograde, we can feel their energy more intensely because they are closer to the earth at that time.
Mars retrograde in Aries is about us learning how to act in different ways to express our individual creativity. It will bring an inner, creative force of survival. We cannot fight fire with fire. As Mars in Aries can be hot. We need to do something different and Mars retrograde gives us the opportunity to recognize where these areas are. We get to review where we are physically spending our time, our inner conflicts, our inner anger, our inner creativity, and desires.
Mars energy is where we might have some conflicts with others. This could be with another person, a different idea, a different belief, a different perspective or point of view. Mars is basically where the conflict meets. It is where someone may, or we rub someone else in the wrong way.
Here is some information you may find helpful during Mars retrograde of what is recommended to do for the best outcomes:
Look out for what your inner self wants in life. It might be a gadget or a new hobby or a relationship. This is a good time to find out what you really want out of life. Be wary of people who might affect your life in a negative sense. Do compromise in personal and professional relationships and try to work out any sort of differences that might arise in personal areas. Let your communication with others be with a diplomatic and tactful approach. Be assertive too in your tone. This is a good time to alter some of your behaviors that have been bad or not desirable.
Do manage your anger in a positive way. Make amends with your life goals. Do not hold onto old goals that are not bringing positive results. Put your talents and creative energy to good use. Do plan for your future, it is just not a time to execute. Get into a safe and new social group that might direct you towards positive territory.

Here is some information you may find helpful during Mars retrograde of what is recommended not to do:
Mars is rules over disputes and fights. Mars retrograde period should not be used to start a fight or argument. Usually a fight is lost. Countries that initiate war during this period have all met with defeats in the hand of their enemies. Mars stands for all types of surgeries and physical ailments. Do not go in for an elective surgery when Mars retrogrades. Either the procedure would not be favorable or might reoccur. Do not start any new projects during a Mars retrograde period. They might get into trouble or might meet with impediments. You would not be getting favorable results.Do not initiate or end existing relationships like a marriage or divorce. Do not start legal activities during a Mars retrograde period. You might ultimately lose the case. Do not buy any machinery, they might break down or might be inefficient and this includes cars, computers, and the like. Do not set any life goals, you would not be able to meet it. Wait for Mars to go direct and then make life decisions. Do not over-exert yourself physically and mentally. You might break down mentally or might meet with physical injuries or accidents.Do not speculate or gamble. The markets would be very volatile to handle and you might not be able to judge the direction or outcome. Do not pursue sports that call for rigorous physical exertion. Especially if you are in a difficult Mars transit.
